How do I use the Velocity LFO?
OP-1 Fieldtutorialguide
The Velocity LFO translates keyboard velocity into LFO data, letting you use how hard you play to modulate a sound parameter. It works best with an external MIDI keyboard for full expression.
Accessing the Velocity LFO
- 1.Press T4 to open the LFO screen in synth or drum mode.
- 2.Press shift + T4 to open the LFO browser.
- 3.Turn the blue encoder to scroll to Velocity LFO, then tap the blue encoder or press T4 to confirm.
Setting it up
The Velocity LFO has two main controls:
- Destination, which selects which parameter is affected
- Amount, which sets how strongly the velocity influences that parameter
There is also a second option for volume amplification, letting velocity affect the overall volume level.
Tips
Playing keys softly or loudly will affect the chosen destination parameter accordingly, so connecting an external MIDI keyboard gives you the most expressive results. Pairing this LFO with a synth engine parameter like filter cutoff or pitch can add natural dynamics to otherwise static sounds. You can toggle the LFO on and off at any time by pressing T4 again.
