How do I change tempo and sync?

OP-1 Fieldtutorialguide

Tempo and sync are controlled from the dedicated tempo screen, which manages BPM for all sequencers, tempo-synced LFOs, and the tape.

Accessing the tempo screen

Press the tempo key to open the tempo screen.

Setting BPM

Turn or tap the blue encoder to adjust BPM. You can also press the left and right arrow keys to nudge the tempo up or down, which is handy when jamming with others without a sync cable.

Changing sync mode

Turn the ochre encoder to cycle through the available sync modes:

  • Free, internal clock with no sync sent or received
  • Beat match, internal master clock
  • Midi sync, external clock sync
  • PO sync / 1/16 sync, for syncing Pocket Operators and modulars

Hold shift and turn ochre while in PO sync to switch to 1/16 sync, which gives a 16th note pulse useful for modular systems.

Adjusting tape speed

Turn the gray encoder to change tape speed. The link indicator shows the relationship between BPM and tape speed. Ochre means master clock is being sent, orange means MIDI sync is being received.

Metronome

Turn and tap the orange encoder to control the metronome level and toggle it on or off.
