How do I use the bass synth?
The EP-40 (Riddim) doesn't have a dedicated bass synth, but you can create bass sounds using sampled bass sounds from the built-in library, supertone sounds, or your own recordings.
Load a bass sample
Press sound, then select Group B (recommended for bass). Use minus and plus to scroll through available sounds. Bass samples are stored in slots 400-499 in the default library.
Play it like a synth using keys mode
Select a bass pad, then press keys to play that sample chromatically across the 12 pads, similar to a keyboard. Hold keys and press minus or plus to change octave. Hold keys and press a pad to transpose the scale.
Try a supertone sound
Hold sound, press the dot pad, then use minus and plus to browse the ten supertone sounds, which include synthesizers and dub sirens. These behave more like a traditional synth. Adjust their parameters using knob x and knob y.
Shape the sound
Press shift and sound to enter sound edit. From there you can adjust:
- Amplitude and pitch in the main sound screen
- Attack and release in the envelope section
- Start and end points in the trim section
Change the scale
In system settings (press shift and eraser), navigate to pad settings, then scale, to choose from major, minor, pentatonic and other modes.
