The EP-40 (also called Riddim) lets you build a full track by loading sounds into four groups, recording patterns, and arranging them into scenes. Here's the quickest path from zero to a finished beat.

Set up a new project

Hold main and press one of pads 1-9 to select a project. To clear it first, hold main, a pad, and erase together.

Load sounds

Press sound to enter sound mode, then select a group and a pad. Use minus and plus to scroll through the 999 available samples. A good starting layout is Group A for drums, Group B for bass, Group C for melodies, and Group D for loops and samples.

Record your beat

Press main to return to the home screen. Tap record then play to get a four-beat count-in and start recording. Hit the pads to lay down your beat, then press play to stop. Press shift and main to commit the scene.

Add bass and melody

Press Group B, choose a bass sound, then press keys to play it across the pads like a keyboard. Record it the same way as the drums. Repeat with Group C for a melody.

Add effects

Press fx to open the effects menu. Use minus and plus to browse delay, reverb, distortion, chorus, filter, compressor, and phaser. Move the fader to set the send level for the current group.

Build your song

Each time you press shift and main to commit, Riddim duplicates the current scene so you can layer variations without overwriting what you have.
