How do I use step sequencing?
Step sequencing lets you program beats note by note by placing sounds at precise positions in your pattern. It's an alternative to live recording, great for exact rhythms.
Getting started
Press main to enter main mode. Use minus and plus to navigate forward and backward through the steps in your pattern.
Recording a note to a step
Hold record and press a pad to place that sound on the current step. The pad will light up to confirm a note is recorded there.
Setting up a basic beat
A good starting point is a four-on-the-floor kick pattern. Navigate to steps 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3.1 and 1.4.1 and hold record while pressing your kick pad at each position. Then add a snare on steps 1.2.1 and 1.4.1.
Changing the note interval
Press timing and turn knob x to change the step size. Options include 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and triplet variations. A finer interval lets you sequence more detail, while a coarser one speeds things up.
Adding swing
Press timing and turn knob y to add swing. This only applies to 1/8 and 1/16 note intervals.
Adjusting note properties
At any step, hold shift and turn knob x to change note velocity, or hold shift and turn knob y to change note duration.
Erasing a note
Hold eraser and press the pad you want to remove.
