The EP-40 (Riddim) supports MIDI in and out, letting you control external gear or be controlled by a keyboard or other device. Here is how to get set up depending on your goal.

Connecting a MIDI keyboard to control Riddim

Depending on your keyboard, you may need a 3.5mm stereo TRS to MIDI DIN cable. Some keyboards have TRS MIDI, so a standard 3.5mm cable works. For USB MIDI keyboards, you need a MIDI host (a computer via USB-C or a dedicated MIDI host box) between the two devices.

Once connected, Riddim detects incoming notes and lights up the MIDI or USB icon on screen. Notes played on the keyboard trigger the corresponding pads.

Press keys to play one pad transposed across the full keyboard range.

Sequencing external MIDI devices from Riddim

  1. 1.Connect your MIDI device using a TRS to MIDI DIN cable, or USB-C for USB MIDI devices.
  2. 2.Press shift and sound to enter sound edit mode.
  3. 3.Select a pad, then use minus and plus to navigate to that pad's MIDI settings.
  4. 4.Turn knob x to set the MIDI channel the pad sends to.
  5. 5.Turn knob y to set the root note.

Notes played or sequenced on that pad will now send MIDI to your device.

MIDI clock

To send or receive MIDI clock, press shift and eraser to open system settings, then navigate to MIDI, then Clock, and choose off, in, or out.
