You can change the tempo by pressing the Tempo button and adjusting KnobX, which covers a range of 60-180 BPM. For the full range of 40-399 BPM, hold Tempo and type the desired value on the pads.

Basic tempo changes

Press Tempo. Turn KnobX to adjust BPM between 60 and 180.

Full BPM range

Hold Tempo and type any value from 40 to 399 on the pads. The EP-40 supports decimal values like 120.51 for precise tempo matching.

Tap tempo

Tap the Tempo button repeatedly at your desired speed. The device will calculate and set the BPM based on your tapping.

Automatic tempo detection

Hold Sample and Tempo together to auto-detect tempo from incoming audio at the line input. This is useful for matching the tempo of external audio sources.

Fine adjustments

Hold Shift while turning KnobX for more precise tempo changes.

Note that in Live State mode, tempo changes use "vinyl time" where samples slow down or speed up with pitch changes. These tempo adjustments are temporary and revert when you exit Live State mode.
