How do I use the CM-15 with a camera?
CM-15tutorialguide
The CM-15 connects directly to a camera's mic input via the 3.5 mm mini jack output, letting you record high-quality audio straight to your camera.
What you need
- A 3.5 mm stereo cable (or stereo to dual mono splitter for mono inputs)
- A charged CM-15 battery, since phantom power cannot be used with the mini jack
Setup
- 1.Power on the CM-15 using the power switch. The status LED will confirm it is on.
- 2.Connect a 3.5 mm stereo cable from the mini jack output on the bottom of the CM-15 to your camera's mic input.
- 3.Set the pad/gain switch based on your sound source. The manual recommends gain setting I (+18 dB) for camera use, which suits quieter sources like dialogue.
- 4.Use the built-in table stand or mount the CM-15 on a tripod using the included quarter-inch to three-eighths-inch adapter for a stable position.
Tips
- The mini jack outputs a dual mono signal, meaning the same audio appears on both tip and ring, so a standard stereo cable works fine.
- Do not apply phantom power to the mini jack output.
- For outdoor camera work, use a windscreen to reduce wind noise.
- Angling the mic slightly away from your mouth helps reduce plosives without a dedicated pop filter.
