How do I get started with the CM-15?
The CM-15 is designed to be simple to set up. Flip the power switch to the on position, connect your preferred output, and adjust the pad/gain switch for your sound source.
Powering on
Flip the power switch to the on position. The status LED will light up green when the battery is fully charged, or orange/red if the battery is low or charging.
Choosing your output
The CM-15 has three outputs on the bottom of the unit:
- Mini XLR, for use with a recording console, preamp, or audio interface with 48V phantom power
- 3.5mm mini jack, for portable use with devices like the TX-6, OB-4, or a camera
- USB-C, which acts as a digital audio interface and also charges the battery
Setting the pad/gain switch
The switch has three positions:
- Far left for -18 dB pad, useful for loud sound sources
- Center for 0 dB
- Far right for +18 dB gain, useful for quiet sources
Positioning the mic
Use the built-in table stand or attach the included tripod adapter to a standard mic stand or tripod. The CM-15 has a supercardioid polar pattern, so point the front of the mic toward your sound source. For voice recordings, angle the mic slightly away from your mouth to reduce plosives, and use an external pop filter if available.
