How does phantom power work on the CM-15?
The CM-15 is compatible with 48V phantom power, which can both power the microphone and deliver the highest quality audio output via the mini XLR connection. When running on phantom power, the status LED will glow solid green.
Using phantom power
Connect the CM-15 to your recording console, preamp, or audio interface using the included mini XLR to XLR cable, then enable 48V phantom power on your interface. The microphone draws around 3mA of current in this mode.
Power priority and battery charging
Phantom power counts as one of three power sources the CM-15 supports, alongside USB-C and the internal battery. The unit handles all power switching automatically. One important note: phantom power cannot charge the internal battery. Only the USB-C port charges the battery.
What to avoid
Do not apply phantom power to the mini jack output. The mini jack is intended for portable, battery-powered scenarios such as connecting to a TX-6, OB-4, or a camera mic input.
Pad and gain with phantom power
The analog pad/gain switch applies to all outputs including the mini XLR. Move it left for -18dB, center for 0dB, or right for +18dB depending on your sound source. The manual illustrates a phantom power setup as suitable for studio drum recording, with the gain switch set to 0dB.
