How does phantom power work on the CM-15?
The CM-15 accepts 48V phantom power through its mini XLR output. This provides the highest quality audio path and is recommended for studio recording.
Power Application
Connect the included mini XLR to XLR cable between the CM-15 and your preamp, mixer, or audio interface. Enable 48V phantom power on your equipment. The CM-15 draws approximately 3 mA from the phantom power source.
Important Limitations
Phantom power through mini XLR does NOT charge the CM-15's internal battery. It only powers the microphone's audio circuitry. To charge the battery, you must use the USB-C port.
Safety Warning
Never apply phantom power to the 3.5mm mini jack output. Only the mini XLR output is designed to accept phantom power. Connecting phantom power to the mini jack can damage the microphone.
Power Priority
When multiple power sources are connected, the CM-15 automatically handles priority. Phantom power via mini XLR takes precedence over other sources for audio operation, but won't prevent USB-C from charging the battery simultaneously.
