How do I use varispeed?
Varispeed lets you change the playback speed of the TP-7 in real time using the rocker or wheel controls. It can also be used for pitch-shifting style effects during playback.
Accessing varispeed
Varispeed is found in the utilities section of the TP-7. You can control playback speed using the rocker, which sends pitch bend data when in controller mode, covering a range of +/- 8192.
Controlling speed
The rocker adjusts playback speed continuously, letting you speed up or slow down audio in real time. The wheel can also be used for speed adjustments, sending relative values in the -64 to +63 range.
Via MIDI
If you are controlling the TP-7 externally, incoming pitch bend messages over MIDI will control playback speed, covering the full +/- 8192 range. This lets you automate or perform varispeed changes from an external controller.
Note: the manual references varispeed under the utilities and scenarios sections, but the detailed step-by-step controls are tied to the rocker and wheel hardware. Experiment with the rocker during playback to find the speed feel you want, as it responds continuously rather than in fixed steps.
