How does audio scrubbing work?
The TP-7 does not have a dedicated audio scrubbing feature described in its manual. However, you can navigate through recordings and control playback speed using the rocker and wheel controls.
Rocker for playback speed
The rocker on the TP-7 controls pitch bend during playback, sending pitch bend MIDI messages in the range of +/- 8192. This allows you to vary the playback speed, which is the closest equivalent to scrubbing.
Varispeed and wheel control
The wheel also provides relative speed control during playback, sending values in a -64 to +63 range. The manual references a varispeed and mix utilities section, which covers controlling playback speed in more detail.
Fast forward and rewind
You can also use fast forward and rewind via MIDI CC 18, which accepts values in a -64 to +63 range for rewinding and fast forwarding through recordings.
Cue markers
For more precise navigation without scrubbing, the TP-7 supports cue markers triggered via MIDI note on and note off messages, letting you jump to specific points in a recording quickly.
If precise audio scrubbing is critical to your workflow, the TP-7 is primarily designed as a field recorder and tape-style playback device rather than a detailed audio editor.
