How do I use the companion app?

The TP-7 companion app is a free transcription tool for your phone that converts recordings to text and enables easy sharing.

Setup

Enable Bluetooth on the TP-7 through the system menu (hold mode button). Set BLE to device mode to accept connections from your phone. Download the companion app from teenage.engineering.

Sending Recordings

Select a recording in library mode on the TP-7. Use the Bluetooth menu to send the file to your paired phone. The app receives the audio file automatically.

Transcription

The app transcribes your audio to text. This works best for voice recordings like interviews, meetings, or memos. Review and edit the transcription within the app interface.

Export and Sharing

Export transcribed text via email directly from the app. You can also set the time and date on your TP-7 automatically through the app connection.

Practical Uses

The companion app is ideal for journalists conducting field interviews, podcasters preparing show notes, or anyone who needs written records of voice recordings. Record on the TP-7, send via Bluetooth, get text output without manual typing.
