How do I use CV/gate output?

The OP-XY can send CV and gate signals from its multi-out port, letting you sequence analog synths and eurorack modules directly.

Set the multi-out to CV/gate

Press com, then rotate the light gray knob until CV is shown on screen. Note that the multi-out cannot be changed while a cable is plugged in, so do this first.

Cable setup

CV is output on the tip (left channel) and gate on the ring (right channel). You need a splitter cable that separates the tip and ring signals, not one that combines them as stereo. Connect the tip to the CV input on your synth and the ring to the gate input. Some modular synths have the CV input on the oscillator and the gate input on the envelope.

Sequence your external synth

Press auxiliary, then press track button 4 to open the external CV track. You can now play notes on the keyboard and they will send CV and gate to your connected device. You can also step sequence or live record notes just like any other track.

Cable dimensions

Check what your synth requires. Eurorack modules typically use 3.5mm jacks, while some analog synths use 6.35mm, so make sure you have the right adapter or cable for your setup.
