Punch-in FX are real-time effects you can play, perform, or sequence on the OP-XY to quickly add variations and energy to your song.

Where to find them

Punch-in FX live in auxiliary mode, on track 2. The lower octave of the keyboard applies effects to percussion tracks, and the higher octave applies effects to melodic tracks.

How to use them

Press auxiliary, then select track 2. Press play to start your song, then hold down keys on the keyboard. Each key triggers a different punch-in effect, and you can hold multiple keys at once to combine effects for greater impact.

Per-track punch-in FX

You can also apply punch-in FX to a single track without entering auxiliary mode. While in any instrument track, hold shift and press keyboard keys. The low octave affects just that individual track, while the high octave modulates all tracks in the same group (percussion or melodic).

Sequencing punch-in FX

Like any other track, punch-in FX can be recorded into the step sequencer. Start a recording and hold shift while playing the keys. The FX will record to the punch-in FX track in auxiliary mode.

Tip: Some punch-in FX also respond to the gyroscope and pitchbend, so try tilting the device or pressing the pitchbend while holding a punch-in FX key for extra modulation.
