You can sample sounds on the OP-XY using the dedicated sample button. The process differs slightly depending on whether you're in a sampler track or not.

Quick sampling from any screen

Press sample from any screen to immediately open the sample recorder. If you're already in a sampler track, it will open the record page for that engine directly.

Recording a sample

  1. 1.Press sample to enter the sample screen.
  2. 2.Rotate the dark gray encoder to select your input source (mic, line in, USB audio, etc.).
  3. 3.Rotate the light gray encoder to adjust the gain. Watch the VU meter on screen.
  4. 4.Rotate the white encoder to set the threshold level, the point at which recording will begin.
  5. 5.Hold record to arm recording. Sampling starts automatically once the audio crosses the threshold.

After recording

Press M2 to preview your sample. If you're not happy with it, press M4 to delete it before it saves. Samples are automatically saved to the sample folder on the device.

Editing your sample

Once recorded, you can adjust the start and end points, loop start and end, tuning, gain, and playback direction using the encoders on the editing screen.

OP-XY supports three sampler types: one shot, drum sampler (24 samples across the keyboard), and multisampler. Each has slightly different recording and editing options suited to its purpose.
