How do I create my first sequence?

Getting started with sequencing on the OP-XY:

Enter sequencer mode: 1. Power on the OP-XY 2. The main view shows your tracks and steps 3. Each row is a track, columns are steps

Add notes to a track: 1. Select a track using the left buttons 2. Press step buttons to add notes 3. Lit steps have notes, unlit are empty 4. Notes play the sound assigned to that track

Choose sounds: 1. Press the sound button 2. Turn encoder to browse sounds 3. Press to assign to current track 4. Each track can have a different sound

Set pattern length: 1. Default is 16 steps 2. Use length controls to extend (up to 64 steps) 3. Longer patterns = more complexity

Play your sequence: 1. Press play button 2. Sequence loops 3. Press stop to end

Adding variation: 1. Use velocity by pressing harder (if enabled) 2. Add step components for modulation 3. Try different time signatures 4. Use multiple patterns for arrangement

Quick tips:

  • Start simple: kick on 1, snare on 5 and 13
  • Add hi-hats on off-beats
  • One element at a time
