The brain is OP-XY's intelligent key and scale system:

What the brain does:

  • Keeps your music in key automatically
  • Transposes patterns intelligently
  • Enables key changes without wrong notes
  • Simplifies music theory

Setting up brain: 1. Access brain/scale settings 2. Choose root note (C, D, E, etc.) 3. Choose scale (major, minor, pentatonic, etc.) 4. All notes snap to that scale

Brain behavior:

  • When you press notes, they map to scale
  • Wrong notes become right notes automatically
  • Transposing patterns stays in key
  • Chord buttons generate in-key chords

Changing keys: 1. Select new root note in brain settings 2. Entire project transposes 3. All patterns adapt to new key 4. Great for finding the right key for vocals

Scale options:

  • Major — Happy, bright
  • Minor — Sad, moody
  • Pentatonic — Can't play wrong notes
  • Dorian, Phrygian, etc. — Exotic flavors
  • Chromatic — All notes available

Using brain creatively:

  • Change scales mid-song for drama
  • Use pentatonic for easy soloing
  • Try unusual scales for unique sounds
  • Brain + arpeggiator = instant melodies

Tips:

  • Start with pentatonic to learn
  • Use brain to generate chord progressions
  • Transpose to match other instruments
  • Brain works with all sound engines
