How do I use step sequencing?
Step sequencing lets you place sounds directly onto specific steps in your pattern without playing in real-time. This is perfect for precise drum programming and complex rhythms.
Navigate to a step
Hold shift + minus to jump to step 1.1.1 (pattern 1, bar 1, step 1). Use minus and plus to move through steps one at a time.
Place sounds on steps
Hold record + press a pad to place that sound on the current step. The sound will play when the sequencer reaches that step.
Build a basic drum pattern
- 1.Load kick, snare, and hi-hat sounds to different pads in Group A
- 2.Navigate to step 1.1.1
- 3.Hold record + press kick pad to place kick on beat 1
- 4.Press plus to move to next step, repeat to build your pattern
- 5.Place kicks on steps 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.4.1 for a four-on-the-floor pattern
- 6.Place snares on 1.2.1 and 1.4.1 for a backbeat
Adjust note interval
Press timing, then turn knobX to change step intervals. Options include 1/8, 1/16, 1/16T (triplet), and 1/32. Smaller intervals give you more precise control for hi-hats and rolls.
Edit placed notes
Hold erase + press a pad to remove that sound from the current step. To nudge a note's timing, hold shift + pad, then use minus or plus to move it freely or by quantized intervals. Hold shift + turn knobX to adjust velocity, or knobY to adjust note duration.
