Making your first beat on the KO II is straightforward. Load some sounds, record into the sequencer, and build it up group by group.

Load your sounds

Press Sound, then select Group A and tap a pad. Use minus and plus to scroll through samples. Kicks are stored around 1-99, snares 100-199, hi-hats 200-299. Fill out a few pads across the group.

Start recording

Press Main to return to the home screen. Tap Record, then Play. You'll hear a four-beat count-in, then the KO II starts recording. Hit the pads to lay down your beat. Press Play to stop when done.

Add bass and melody

Press Group B and load some bass sounds (stored around 400-499). Press Keys to play them across the pads like a keyboard. Press Play to hear your drums loop, then tap Record and Play again to record a bassline over the top. Repeat for Group C with melodic sounds (500-599).

Add effects

Press FX while playing to open the effects menu. Use minus and plus to browse delay, reverb, distortion, chorus, filter, and compressor. Move the fader to dial in how much effect hits each group.

Save your work

Press Shift and Main to commit your beat. This saves your current patterns as a scene and duplicates it so you can keep building without losing what you had.
