How do I use keys mode?

Keys mode lets you play any sound chromatically across the pads like a keyboard:
Entering keys mode: 1. Press the keys button (or shift + the appropriate button depending on firmware) 2. The pads now play your selected sound at different pitches
In keys mode:
- The 12 pads represent one octave of notes
- Press shift + pad to shift octaves up/down
- X knob typically controls pitch bend or another parameter
- Y knob may control filter or modulation
Setting your root note/scale: 1. While in keys mode, hold shift 2. Use the plus/minus buttons to change the root note 3. Use the X knob to select different scales (chromatic, major, minor, pentatonic, etc.)
Recording melodic patterns: 1. Enter keys mode 2. Press record + play 3. Play your melody on the pads 4. Press play to stop recording 5. Your melodic pattern is now sequenced
Tips:
- Keys mode is perfect for basslines and melodies
- You can still switch between groups while in keys mode
- Each group can have a different sound assigned for keys mode playing
