Keys mode turns your selected pad into a chromatic keyboard spread across all 12 pads, letting you play melodies and chords from a single sound.

Entering keys mode

Press KEYS while a pad with a sound is selected. The pad you selected becomes the root note, and the other 11 pads play chromatic intervals above it.

Basic controls

Change octave by holding KEYS and pressing +/-.

Transpose the root note by holding KEYS and selecting a different pad.

Recording in keys mode

Record notes to steps by holding RECORD and pressing pads.

Live record by pressing RECORD, then PLAY, then play your melody on the pads.

Scale options

Change from chromatic to other scales by going to SHIFT + ERASE > pad settings > sca. Available scales include major, minor, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, locrian, and major/minor pentatonic. In a scale mode, each pad plays the next note in that scale rather than every semitone.

Sound mode matters

For chords, set your sound to "key" play mode in sound edit (SHIFT + SOUND). This allows polyphonic playback so multiple pads can sound simultaneously.
