How do I use auto-chop on breakbeats?
KO IItutorialguide
Auto-chop analyzes a sample and splits it into slices across your pads automatically, making it ideal for chopping up breakbeats and drum loops. Here's how to do it.
Before you start
Make sure your breakbeat is already recorded or loaded onto a pad. It helps to have an empty group ready to receive the chops, as auto-chop will overwrite any existing pad assignments in the target group.
Steps
- 1.Press SHIFT + SAMPLE to enter chop mode.
- 2.Press MINUS or PLUS to select auto-chop (as opposed to live chop).
- 3.Press the group pad (Group A, B, C, or D) where you want the chops to land. This will reset that group's pad assignments, so choose an empty group or one you're happy to overwrite.
- 4.Use MINUS and PLUS to set the number of slices. The KO II uses beat tracking to detect chop points automatically, populating pads from bottom left to top right.
- 5.Once happy, the slices will be assigned across the pads ready to play.
Tips
- After chopping, select individual pads and use knob X and knob Y to fine-tune the start and end points of each slice.
- Hold SHIFT while turning the knobs for finer control over trim points.
- You can chop a sample from one group into a different group by pressing your source group, selecting the pad, then pressing the destination group before confirming the chop.
