How do I quantize my recordings?

There are two ways to quantize on the KO II: record with quantize mode active so notes snap automatically, or use Timing Correct after the fact to fix specific pads or notes.

Recording with quantize mode

Press timing to open the timing settings. Press minus to enable quantize mode (as opposed to free time, which is enabled with plus). Turn knobX to set the note interval you want notes to snap to, such as 1/16. Any notes you record will now snap to that grid automatically.

Fixing recordings after the fact with Timing Correct

Press shift and timing to open Timing Correct. Turn knobX to choose the note interval to correct to. You then have two options:

  • While the sequencer is stopped, press a pad to quantize all notes recorded on that pad.
  • While playing, hold a pad to quantize notes on that pad in real time. The display will show how many notes were corrected.

You can also set swing in Timing Correct by turning knobY when the note interval is set to 1/8 or 1/16, which lets you add groove back after tightening things up.
