How do patterns and scenes work?
KO IIEP-133 patternsscenesEP-133 arrangement
Understanding patterns and scenes is key to building tracks on the EP-133:
Patterns:
- A pattern is a recording of notes you've sequenced into a single group
- Each group (A, B, C, D) can hold its own pattern
- Patterns play in a loop and can be 1-4 bars long
- You record patterns by pressing record + play and hitting pads
Scenes:
- A scene is a snapshot of all 4 group patterns playing together
- Think of it as a "section" of your song (intro, verse, chorus, etc.)
- You can have up to 99 scenes per project
- Scenes let you arrange different combinations of patterns
How to use them: 1. Create patterns — Record drums in group A, bass in group B, etc. 2. Commit to a scene — Press shift + plus to save current patterns as a scene 3. Switch scenes — Hold main and press 1-9 to jump between scenes 4. Build arrangement — Create variations by modifying patterns and committing new scenes
Key shortcuts:
- Hold main + pad 1-9: Jump to scene 1-9
- Shift + plus: Commit current patterns to a new scene
- Shift + minus: Delete current scene content
