What are mute groups?
KO IItutorialguide
Mute groups let you designate a set of pads that can never play at the same time. When any pad in the group is triggered, it cuts off whichever other pad in that group was already playing. This is perfect for open and closed hi-hats, where you never want both sounding simultaneously.
Setting up a mute group
- 1.Select the pad you want to edit, then press shift and sound to enter sound edit mode.
- 2.Press minus or plus to navigate through the edit modes until you reach the mute group page.
- 3.All pads will flash. Press any pad to add it to the mute group. Pads already in the mute group will light up solid.
How it works in practice
Any pads you add to the same mute group will cut each other off on playback. Only the most recently triggered sound in the group will continue playing. This works both when playing live and during sequencer playback.
Typical use cases
- Open hi-hat and closed hi-hat on the same mute group
- Different articulations of the same instrument
- Any sounds where you want a one-at-a-time, exclusive playback behavior
Note that mute groups work within a single group (Group A, B, C, or D) and the settings are saved per project.
