To make longer patterns on the EP-133:

Set pattern length: 1. Enter timing mode (press timing or shift + tempo) 2. Use the X knob or plus/minus to set bar length 3. Options are typically 1, 2, or 4 bars 4. The pattern will now loop at the new length

Per-group pattern lengths:

  • Each group (A, B, C, D) can have its own pattern length
  • Select a group, then set its length
  • This allows polyrhythmic patterns (e.g., 3-bar melody over 4-bar drums)

Recording longer patterns: 1. Set your desired bar length first 2. Press record + play 3. The count-in plays, then you have multiple bars to record 4. The pattern loops at the set length

Display indicators:

  • The screen shows current bar and beat position (e.g., 2.3.1 = bar 2, beat 3, tick 1)
  • Watch the display to know where you are in longer patterns

Tip: Start with 4-bar patterns for verses and choruses. This gives you room for variation without making things too repetitive.
