How to connect MIDI devices

The KO II supports MIDI connections via 3.5mm TRS-MIDI jacks and USB-C. You can use MIDI to control the device with a keyboard, sequence external gear, or sync with other equipment.

Physical Connections

Connect MIDI devices using 3.5mm TRS-MIDI cables (Type A pinout). The KO II has both MIDI in and MIDI out jacks. For USB MIDI, connect via the USB-C port to your computer or MIDI controller.

Using a MIDI Keyboard

Connect your keyboard via 3.5mm TRS-MIDI or USB. The keyboard will trigger the KO II's pads. Press KEYS on the KO II to enable chromatic mode across the 12 pads. Each group responds to different MIDI note ranges: Group A (36-47), Group B (48-59), Group C (60-71), Group D (72-83).

Sequencing External Gear

Press SHIFT + SOUND to enter sound edit mode. Navigate with plus/minus to the MIDI settings page. Use knobX to select the MIDI channel (1-16) and knobY to set the root note. You can create an empty MIDI pad by setting a pad to sound 000 while holding SOUND. The KO II will send notes, clock, start/stop, and CC messages.

MIDI System Settings

Access MIDI settings via SHIFT + ERASE. Key codes include: 101 (clock in), 102 (clock out), 110-126 (MIDI channels), 131 (MIDI thru on). The device receives and sends clock, transport control, notes, and CC. It receives but doesn't send pitch bend or program change.
