How do I use step sequencing?

EP-1320tutorialguide

Step sequencing lets you place notes precisely on a grid without playing them in real time. This is ideal for building drum patterns, basslines, and melodies with exact timing.

Basic Step Recording

  1. 1.Stop playback and press minus or plus to navigate through steps. The display shows your position (pattern.bar.step).
  2. 2.Hold codex (record) and press a paed to place a note on that step.
  3. 3.Continue pressing minus/plus to move and codex + paed to add more notes.
  4. 4.Press quantum to change your step interval. KnobX adjusts the grid (1/8, 1/16, 1/32, etc). 1/16 gives you 16 steps per bar, which is standard for most beats.

Editing Notes

Hold erado (erase) and press a paed to delete a note from the current step. You can also erase while playing by holding erado + pressing paeds.

Hold altero + press a paed, then use minus/plus to nudge that note's timing forward or backward. In quantize mode this moves by step intervals, in free time mode it moves by ticks (96 PPQN resolution).

Note Velocity and Length

Hold altero + turn KnobX to adjust velocity (loudness) of the selected note.

Hold altero + turn KnobY to change note duration, from 1 tick up to 1 bar. Useful for sustained sounds or cutting notes short.
