How do I use keys (claves) mode?
Keys mode lets you play sounds chromatically across the 12 pads, turning your EP-1320 into a keyboard. Press claves to activate it on the selected pad.
Basic Setup
Press claves while a pad is selected. That sound becomes the root note and spreads chromatically across all 12 pads. The active pad lights up to show which sound is in keys mode.
Recording
You can record melodies in two ways:
- 1.Live recording: Press codex then fabula for a count-in, then play your notes.
- 2.Step recording: Hold codex and press pads to add notes to specific steps.
Adjusting Range
Hold claves and press minus or plus to shift the octave range up or down.
To change the root note, hold claves and select a different pad. The chromatic layout will reorganize around that new root.
Scale Options
Press altero + erado, navigate to pad settings (code 310), and use minus/plus to select a scale. Available scales include chromatic (12T), major, minor, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, locrian, major pentatonic, and minor pentatonic.
You can also set the scale key (C through B) using code 320-331 in the same menu.
