How do I sync with other gear?
The EP-1320 supports several sync methods including analog sync, MIDI, and USB. Here is a breakdown of each option.
Analog sync (3.5mm)
The sync in and out jacks support three clock rates. You can choose the right one in system settings by pressing altero (shift) and erado (erase), then navigating to the sync settings.
Available rates:
- 1/8 note pulse
- 1/16 note pulse (default)
- Sync24 (for vintage drum machines)
Syncing two EP-1320 units
Connect a 3.5mm cable from sync out on one unit to sync in on the other. Set both units to 1/16 sync in and out. Press fabula (play) on both and they will lock together.
Syncing a Pocket Operator
To send clock to a Pocket Operator, set the EP-1320 sync out to 1/8 in system settings and set your Pocket Operator to SY2. To receive clock from a Pocket Operator, use a TRS to 2x mono cable, set the EP-1320 sync in to 1/8, and set your Pocket Operator to SY1.
MIDI sync
Press altero and erado to enter system settings, then navigate to MIDI, then clock. Choose from off, in (receive only), or out (send only). The USB-C port also works as a MIDI clock device with a computer.
Vintage drum machines
Use a 3.5mm to DIN-sync cable and set sync in or out to 24 in system settings. A standard MIDI cable will not work for this.
