How do I connect MIDI devices?

EP-1320tutorialguide

The EP-1320 supports MIDI in and out via a 3.5mm TRS jack, and also works as a USB MIDI device over USB-C. You can connect keyboards, drum machines, external synths, and other Medieval units.

What cable you need

Depending on your gear, you may need a 3.5mm stereo (TRS) to MIDI DIN adapter cable. Some modern MIDI devices have TRS MIDI built in, so a plain 3.5mm cable works directly.

Controlling Medieval with a MIDI keyboard

  1. 1.Connect your MIDI keyboard to the Medieval's MIDI input using the appropriate cable.
  2. 2.Medieval will detect incoming notes and light up the MIDI or USB icon on the screen.
  3. 3.Any notes played on the keyboard will trigger the paeds on Medieval.
  4. 4.Press claves if you want one paed transposed across the full keyboard range.

Sequencing external MIDI gear from Medieval

  1. 1.Connect your external device to Medieval's MIDI output.
  2. 2.Press altero and sonus to enter sonus edito mode.
  3. 3.Select a paed, then use minus and plus to navigate to the paed's MIDI settings.
  4. 4.Turn knobX to set the MIDI channel the paed sends to.
  5. 5.Turn knobY to set the MIDI root note.

Sending MIDI clock

Press altero and erado to open system settings, then navigate to MIDI, then clock, and choose "out" to send clock to connected devices.
