How do I chop a sample on the EP-1320?
EP-1320tutorialguide
Chopping splits a sample across multiple pads so you can play back individual slices. The EP-1320 offers two methods: Auto-Chop and Live Chop.
Enter chop mode
Press altero + demus + demus to enter chop mode.
Auto-Chop (let the device do it)
- 1.Press Group A, Group B, Group C, or Group D to select the group you want to chop into. Note that this will reset any existing pad assignments in that group, so pick an empty group or one you are happy to overwrite.
- 2.Use minus and plus to set the number of slices. The EP-1320 uses beat tracking to detect chop points automatically, populating pads from bottom left to top right.
Live Chop (do it manually)
- 1.Press and hold a pad while the sample plays to assign that slice to that pad. The length of time you hold the pad determines the length of the chop. Keep pressing pads as the sample plays to build up your slices.
Refine your chops
- 1.Select a pad and turn knobX to adjust the start point and knobY to adjust the end point of that slice. Hold altero while turning either knob for finer control.
Once chopped, you can play back the slices using the pads and sequence them like any other sound.
