What's the best workflow for beginners?
The OP-1 is designed with an intuitive layout that guides you naturally from sound creation to recording. Following the built-in progression of its four main modes is the best way to start.
Power on and set volume
Slide the power switch toward you, then turn the white volume knob on the left side of the screen clockwise to a comfortable level.
Pick a sound
Press the Synthesizer key, then press any key from 1 to 8 to select a preset sound. Play the musical keyboard to hear it. Press Drum and do the same to explore percussion sounds.
Shape your sound
With a sound selected, use the T1 through T4 keys to explore each module. T1 is the engine, T2 is the envelope, T3 adds an effect, and T4 controls the LFO. Turn the color-coded encoders to adjust parameters.
Record to tape
Press the Tape key, then select a track with T1 through T4. Press Rec and Play together to start recording while you play the keyboard. Press Stop when done, then hold Rewind to go back and press Play to listen back.
Check the mixer
Press the Mixer key and press Play to hear your tape. Turn the color-coded encoders to adjust each track's level.
Use the help key
Hold Help at any time to see what mode you are in, or hold it while pressing any key to learn what that key does.
