How do I use the sequencer?
The OP-1 has six different sequencers that record and play back note patterns (not audio). Each sequencer works differently, giving you various ways to create and manipulate musical sequences.
Selecting a Sequencer
Press SHIFT + the Sequencer key (dots icon on the right side). Turn the blue encoder to browse through the six options, then press the Sequencer key again to confirm your choice.
Endless Sequencer
The simplest option for quick linear sequences. Hold SHIFT and press keyboard keys to insert notes. The sequencer auto-advances and stores up to 99 notes. SHIFT + forward arrow inserts a space, SHIFT + rewind deletes the last note. For longer notes, hold SHIFT + key + forward arrow.
Press any keyboard key to play and transpose your pattern. C plays at the original pitch. Turn the orange encoder fully up to HOLD for continuous playback. The blue encoder changes time signature, green adds swing, and white selects different pattern variations.
Pattern Sequencer
A 16-step grid sequencer. Hold SHIFT and press keyboard keys to insert notes at the current position. The blue encoder moves the cursor forward, SHIFT + blue erases notes. White encoder adjusts pattern length (1-16 steps), while orange set to HOLD enables live playback mode.
Other Sequencer Types
Tombola uses physics simulation. Drop notes by pressing keyboard keys and watch them bounce around. Control gravity, rotation, and bounciness with the encoders.
Finger lets you create dual patterns on white keys. Sketch draws free-form pitch curves. Arpeggio automatically distributes held chord notes over time in various patterns.
