How do I use the Tombola sequencer?
The Tombola sequencer uses physics simulation to create random, bouncing note patterns. Press keyboard keys to drop notes into a virtual container where they bounce and trigger sounds.
Getting Started
Select Tombola by pressing SHIFT + the Sequencer key (dots icon on right side), turn the blue encoder to browse sequencers, then press Sequencer key to confirm.
Adding Notes
Press keyboard keys to drop notes into the container. Each key creates a bouncing note at that pitch. The more keys you press, the more complex your pattern becomes.
Parameters
Blue encoder: rotation speed and direction of the container. Spinning affects how notes bounce around.
Green encoder: gravity. Higher values make notes fall faster and bounce differently.
Orange encoder: bounciness and mass of the notes. Affects how energetically they move.
White encoder: opens the container to release notes, creating decay effects.
Playback Options
SHIFT + Orange: change direction (forward, reverse, or cycle mode).
SHIFT + Blue: crank mode, which lets you manually control timing.
Orange encoder to HOLD position: keeps the pattern running continuously in live mode.
Creative Uses
Tombola works best for creating evolving, unpredictable rhythms and melodies. Experiment with high rotation speeds and open containers for random echo-like effects. The physics simulation means patterns never repeat exactly the same way twice.
