Tape always overdubs on existing material by default. Just select a track, press record, and play. Your new performance layers on top of what's already there.

To overdub:

  1. 1.Press Tape key
  2. 2.Select track (T1-T4) that already has material
  3. 3.Set level with orange encoder
  4. 4.Press REC + Play
  5. 5.Perform your overdub
  6. 6.Press Stop when done

Preventing overdubs

If you want to replace material instead of layering, use LIFT to remove the existing take before recording. Press the arrow up key (LIFT) to pull the take into memory. Then record fresh material on that track. You can DROP the lifted take elsewhere if needed.

Loop-based overdubbing

Set loop IN and OUT points (keys 1 and 2) to define a section. The tape will cycle within that region while you layer multiple passes. Press Break (key 4) to stop the tape while keeping the loop timing active in the background.
