# How do I import my own samples?

You can import custom samples by connecting your OP-1 to a computer via USB and placing .aif files in the appropriate folders. The process differs slightly between synth and drum modes.

For Synth Mode

  1. 1.Press SHIFT + COM to enter disk mode
  2. 2.Navigate to the synth folder on your OP-1
  3. 3.Create a custom folder inside the synth directory (or use an existing one)
  4. 4.Copy your .aif files into that folder
  5. 5.Keep filenames to 10 characters maximum
  6. 6.Eject the OP-1 and disconnect
  7. 7.In synth mode, press SHIFT + sound keys 1-8 to browse and load your samples

For Drum Mode

  1. 1.Press SHIFT + COM to enter disk mode
  2. 2.Navigate to the drum folder
  3. 3.Copy your .aif file directly into the drum directory
  4. 4.Maximum sample length is 12 seconds
  5. 5.Eject and disconnect
  6. 6.In drum mode, press SHIFT + sound keys 1-8 to load your sample

File Requirements

Your samples must be .aif format. The drum sampler supports up to 12 seconds per sample, while the synth sampler supports 6 seconds. Once loaded, you can use the layout controls and envelopes to shape your imported sounds.
