How do I connect via USB?
Connect your OP-1 to a computer using a USB mini-B cable (the port is on the right side of the device). Once connected, press SHIFT + COM to enter USB mode.
Disk Mode
Your OP-1 will appear as a USB drive on your computer. You can then browse folders containing synth presets, drum kits, tape recordings, and album files. This mode allows you to transfer sounds, back up recordings, and organize custom sounds into folders.
Other USB Modes
After pressing SHIFT + COM, you can select different USB modes using the track keys:
- T1 (OP-1 Mode): Standard MIDI mode for transmitting and receiving MIDI notes on channel 1
- T2 (Controller Mode): Turns the OP-1 into a MIDI controller for external software
- T4 (OPT Mode): Disables USB charging to prevent ground loop noise while keeping the connection active
USB Audio
The OP-1 can also stream audio to/from your computer. Set your computer's audio output to OP-1, then press SHIFT + Mic and select USB audio as the input source to record computer audio directly to tape or into the sampler.
Note: The OP-1 charges automatically when connected via USB unless OPT mode is enabled.
