To backup your OP-1, connect it to your computer via USB and enter disk mode by pressing SHIFT + COM (the album key on the right side).

What Gets Backed Up

The OP-1 appears as a USB drive with several folders containing your data:

synth - All synth preset files (.aif format with synthesis data) drum - All drum kit files and samples tape - Individual track recordings (track_1.aif through track_4.aif) album - Final stereo mixes (SideA.aif and SideB.aif)

Backup Process

  1. 1.Press SHIFT + COM to enter disk mode
  2. 2.Copy the entire OP-1 drive to your computer, or select specific folders you want to backup
  3. 3.Store these files safely on your computer or external drive

Important Notes

Individual tape track exports (track_1.aif through track_4.aif) contain raw recordings without any mixer settings, EQ, or master effects applied. If you want a final mixed version of your work, record it to Album mode first before backing up. Album recordings capture everything from the master output including EQ, effects, and drive.

The OP-1 auto-saves during operation, so your current work is always stored internally. Regular backups protect against data loss and let you archive projects or free up space for new work.
