The EP-40 has a dedicated dub siren for authentic reggae/dub sounds:

Activating the dub siren: 1. Press the siren button (dedicated button on EP-40) 2. Or press shift + the assigned pad 3. The siren starts playing

Controlling the siren:

  • X knob — Pitch/frequency of the siren
  • Y knob — Speed/rate of oscillation
  • Fader — Volume or effect depth

Siren types:

  • Classic rising/falling siren
  • Laser-style zaps
  • Police/ambulance patterns
  • Custom waveform sirens

Using in your mix: 1. Bring in the siren during dub breakdowns 2. Use it for transitions between sections 3. Automate the pitch for dramatic sweeps 4. Layer with delay for spacious dub effects

Recording siren: 1. Press record + play to start recording 2. Trigger siren during the pattern 3. The siren triggers are recorded as MIDI events 4. Or resample the siren to a pad for more control

Tips:

  • Don't overuse — sirens are accent elements
  • Works great with heavy reverb/delay
  • Use during drops or to signal section changes
  • Classic dub uses sparse, well-placed siren hits
