To delete or erase patterns on the EP-40:

Erase current pattern: 1. Select the group with the pattern (A, B, C, or D) 2. Hold shift + press erase 3. The pattern for that group is cleared 4. Sounds remain assigned, just the notes are removed

Erase while playing (punch-erase): 1. Start playback (press play) 2. Hold the erase button 3. Press the pads whose notes you want to remove 4. Notes are erased in real-time as the pattern loops

Erase all patterns in a scene: 1. Navigate to the scene 2. Hold shift + hold a specific button combo 3. All group patterns in that scene are cleared

Keep sounds, delete patterns:

  • Erasing patterns does NOT delete the sounds assigned to pads
  • Only the sequenced note data is removed
  • You can immediately record new patterns

Delete vs Clear:

  • Erase/Clear — Removes note data, keeps structure
  • Delete — May remove entire scene or project

Undo:

  • The EP-40 doesn't have unlimited undo
  • Think before erasing
  • Use "commit" to save good versions before experimenting

Tip: If you're experimenting, copy your pattern to a spare scene first. Then you can erase freely and restore from your backup if needed.
