How do I sample a sound on the EP-40?

Sampling on the EP-40:
Enter sample mode: 1. Press the sample button 2. Pads will blink indicating ready to record 3. Select which pad will receive the sample
Choose input source:
- Press minus/plus to cycle through:
Record a sample: 1. Hold down the destination pad 2. Audio from input is recorded 3. Release pad when done 4. Sample is immediately assigned to that pad
Sample tips:
- Adjust input level with X knob before recording
- Shorter samples = less memory usage
- 128 MB total sample memory
- Clean audio sources work best
Sampling workflow: 1. Set up your source (phone, record player, instrument) 2. Connect via 3.5mm line input 3. Set input level 4. Press sample mode 5. Hold pad and play your source 6. Release to stop 7. Press pad to audition
After sampling:
- Edit the sample (trim start/end)
- Assign to multiple pads
- Chop into slices
- Apply effects
Note: Unlike the EP-133, the EP-40 sample library focuses on reggae/dub sounds. Use sampling to add your own flavor.
