Stereo sampling is a new feature in the OP-1 Field:
Accessing stereo sampling: 1. Go to synth mode 2. Select the sampler engine 3. The Field samples in stereo by default (via line input)
Input options for stereo:
- Line input: 3.5mm TRS stereo input
- USB audio: Stereo from computer/device
- Internal: Mono (built-in mic is mono)
Recording a stereo sample: 1. Connect stereo source to line input 2. Select sampler engine 3. Set input to line (shift + mic to toggle) 4. Press record and capture audio 5. Your sample retains stereo information
Stereo in synth engines:
- Many Field synth engines are stereo
- Dimension synth has stereo modulation
- Cluster synth provides stereo spread
- Check each engine's stereo capabilities
Working with stereo:
- Pan controls affect stereo placement
- Recording to tape preserves stereo
- All 4 tape tracks are stereo (vs mono on OG OP-1)
- Final mix has full stereo width
Tips for stereo sampling:
- Sample vinyl records for wide stereo samples
- Use USB audio from DAW for stems
- FM radio captures in mono (mic input)
- For widest sound, use dedicated stereo sources
Memory note: Stereo samples use twice the memory of mono. Manage your sample library accordingly.
