How to import samples on the OP-1 Field
There are two ways to get audio into the OP-1 Field: transfer files from a computer over USB-C using MTP, or record directly into the sampler from any input. Here is both, step by step.
Import from a computer (MTP)
- 1
Connect the OP-1 Field to your computer over USB-C.
- 2
Hold shift and press com (the output key).
- 3
Press T4 to enter MTP mode. The device shows up as a media device.
- 4
Copy your audio files into the synth or drum snapshot folders.
- 5
Safely eject the device when you're done.
Record directly into the sampler
- 1
In synth mode, press shift + T1 and choose the sampler from the list.
- 2
Press the input key (the mic-symbol key) to pick a source.
- 3
Choose mic, line in, FM radio, or USB audio with the blue encoder.
- 4
Set input gain and threshold with the orange and gray encoders.
- 5
Hold a key and play or speak your source, release to stop, then play the keyboard to hear it.
Trim your sample
After recording, use the encoders to move the start and end points of the waveform so the sample is tight and clean.
questions
What is MTP mode on the OP-1 Field?
MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) makes the OP-1 Field appear as a media device on your computer so you can copy audio in and out. Enter it with shift + com, then T4.
Where do imported samples go?
Into the synth or drum snapshot folders. Drum samples load as drum kits, synth samples as the sampler engine.
Can I sample without a computer?
Yes. Choose the sampler engine, pick an input (mic, line in, FM radio, or USB), and record straight into the device.
What input sources can I record from?
Microphone, line in, FM radio, and USB audio, selectable with the blue encoder after pressing the input key.
Why won't my computer see the OP-1 Field?
Make sure you entered MTP mode (shift + com, then T4) and that you're using a data-capable USB-C cable connected directly, not through a hub.
