How to use the EP Sample Tool with the EP-133 K.O. II
The EP Sample Tool is Teenage Engineering's browser app for moving audio to and from the K.O. II over USB-C. It converts any sample rate automatically, lets you rename samples so their names show on screen, and detects BPM and bar length on import.
Connect and open the tool
- 1
Connect the K.O. II to your computer with a USB-C cable.
- 2
Open teenage.engineering/apps/ep-sample-tool in your browser.
- 3
Follow the prompts to upload files. The tool converts the format for you.
Fit more audio (and get lo-fi)
The K.O. II accepts samples below its native rate. Transfer at 11.025 kHz / 16-bit mono and you can fit roughly 50 minutes of audio into the 64 MB of storage. It is also an easy way to get a lo-fi sound.
Choose a destination slot
New samples land in the next free slot by default. To target a specific slot, hold SOUND, type the slot number on the pads, press ENTER, then press SAMPLE.
If there is not enough room to record 20 seconds of audio, the K.O. II shows a "disk low" warning when you press SAMPLE.
questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. The EP Sample Tool runs in your browser and connects over USB-C.
What sample rate should I use?
Native is highest quality, but 11.025 kHz / 16-bit mono fits about 50 minutes in 64 MB and gives a lo-fi character.
Can I back up my samples with it?
Yes. It transfers audio both ways, so use it to back up before a factory reset.
What audio formats does it accept?
Common formats work, and the tool resamples and converts automatically, so you do not need to pre-convert your files.
Why isn't my K.O. II showing up in the tool?
Use a data-capable USB-C cable (not charge-only), connect directly rather than through a hub, and use a WebUSB-capable browser such as Chrome.
