How to factory reset the EP-1320
A full factory reset on the EP-1320 wipes all user samples and patterns, returning the device to a clean state. Factory rom sounds stay on the device after the reset. The same format also clears file system errors like E.04 and E.05 so the device can boot normally.
What a factory reset does
Formatting removes everything you have added while leaving the built-in sounds untouched.
What gets erased
- All user samples
- All recorded patterns and scenes
- All projects
What stays
- Factory rom sounds, which cannot be deleted
There is no undo for a format, so back up any samples or projects over USB-C before you start.
Format the device
The reset is a power-on button combo. Hold the two buttons first, then turn the device on with the power switch.
- 1
Power the device off completely using the power switch on the top right.
- 2
Hold altero (shift) and erado (erase) together.
- 3
While holding both buttons, slide the power switch to turn the device on.
- 4
FMT shows on the screen for about 10 seconds while the format runs.
- 5
The device starts up as normal with all user content removed.
Keep both buttons held until FMT appears, otherwise the device boots normally and skips the format.
Fix E.04 and E.05 errors
If your device shows error codes E.04 or E.05, this same process also clears the file system error and lets the device boot normally.
- Run the format combo exactly as above
- After the format finishes, the error should be gone
- Update to the latest firmware afterward, as Teenage Engineering recommends keeping your device up to date to avoid issues that can cause such errors
