Perform with Punch-in FX on the KO II

Use Punch-in FX 2.0 live: hold and tap pads for fills, drops, and stutters.

  1. Get the loop rolling. Press PLAY so your pattern loops continuously. Punch-in FX are a live performance feature, so you need sound already moving under your fingers before the effects have anything to grab onto. (You should hear your beat looping steadily and see the playhead moving. If nothing plays, check that the pattern actually has notes in it and that the VOLUME is up.)
  2. Arm punch-in FX. Hold FX and keep it held down. Holding it (rather than tapping) is what arms the punch-in mode and turns the pads into live effect triggers for as long as you stay on the button. (You should see the display switch to the FX view while FX stays held. The beat keeps playing dry until you actually tap a pad. If the sound changes the instant you hold FX, you may have tapped a pad already.)
  3. Trigger effects live. While still holding FX, tap pads 1-9 to punch in different effects in real time. Each pad is a different effect (filter, stutter, repeat, and so on). Release the pad to drop straight back to the dry sound. (You should hear the effect kick in only while the pad is pressed and snap back to dry the instant you let go. If an effect sticks on after you release, make sure you are still holding FX and not latching the pad.)
  4. Capture the performance. Press RECORD while the loop plays, then perform your punches by holding FX and tapping pads 1-9. Recording bakes the effect moves into the pattern so they play back automatically. (You should hear your punches play back on the next loop without you touching anything. If the punches did not stick, you likely tapped them after RECORD disengaged, so re-arm and try again.)
