Mix & Finish Your Track on the KO II

Balance the levels and glue the whole track with the master compressor and FX.

  1. Shape the tone. Press FX while playing, use MINUS and PLUS to land on the filter, then turn KNOB X to set the cutoff (left cuts highs, right cuts lows) and dial in the amount with the FADER. (You should hear the part get brighter or darker as you move the cutoff. If nothing changes, check that the **FADER** is up so the filter is actually being applied to this group.)
  2. Add space. With FX open, select reverb and bring in a touch with the FADER, then add a short delay on accents using KNOB X for length and KNOB Y for feedback to open up the mix. (The track should sound wider and less dry, with sounds trailing off into a small space. If it turns washy and the low end blurs, you have pushed the **FADER** too far.)
  3. Glue it. Open the master compressor with SHIFT + FX, then raise KNOB X for drive and KNOB Y for speed to even out levels and make the drums hit harder. (The whole track should feel more cohesive, louder, and punchy, as if it is breathing together. If it starts pumping or sounds squashed and lifeless, back off the drive on **KNOB X**.)
  4. Make it move. During playback, hold FX and press the 1-9 pads to trigger punch-in effects, leaning harder on the pads since they are pressure sensitive and can be combined. (Elements should drop in, twist, and reintroduce as you hold **FX** and hit pads. If you hear nothing, make sure the track is actually playing before you reach for the **1-9** pads.)
